Worried about a Hedgehog?

If you are ever worried about the health or welfare of a hedgehog, please call the British Hedgehog Preservation Society on 01584 890801 and they will be able to give you advice, and put you in touch with a local rescue centre if necessary.

🦔 Hedgehog Update, Tiny Delay for a Very Cute Reason💙

A quick update for everyone eagerly awaiting news on the hedgehog tagging and release. Our friends at the rescue centre send their apologies for the delay, they are incredibly busy right now with an influx of baby hedgehogs needing round‑the‑clock care.

At the moment, they have eight tiny hoglets in their utility room, each needing 2–3ml of puppy formula every 2–3 hours. With that schedule, there’s barely time for anything else, and we’re hugely grateful for the dedication going into keeping these little ones alive and thriving.

About the tagging: The pale‑blue ID tags are ready, and each hedgehog will have ten tags arranged neatly in a square or line (not random) so they’re easy to recognise and don’t look like ticks from a distance.

The only thing holding us up is the special ethical, animal‑safe, fast‑setting glue required to attach them. It’s available, but sourcing it is taking longer than expected, and with the rescue team stretched thin, it’s unlikely the tagging will be completed before July.

They’ve asked us to pass on their apologies, but the care and precision going into this will absolutely be worth it.

And to brighten your day, they’ve also shared a photo of one of the tiny hoglets currently being hand‑reared. She’s absolutely adorable and a reminder of why this work matters so much.

Thank you all for your patience and enthusiasm. We’ll keep you updated as things progress. 🦔
