Shepreth are in the process of launching a new initiative involving tagging and monitoring of hedgehogs. Glatton has a great reputation for our Hedgehog rehoming program of the last few years and as a result have been asked if we would like to be involved.
The initiative is still in the planning stage but as a proven location for successful hedgehog rehoming, they would like us to be involved, when the initiative launches, which should be late August / early September.
What we need to succeed is five volunteer hedgehog adopters to rehome a hedgehog, with the usual requirements to have a suitable hedgehog house, food and water.
We also need to ask everyone in the village to keep their eyes (and nature cameras) peeled to see if they can spot one of the new arrivals over the following six or so months. The new hedgehogs will be tagged with a small button like tag, which should be easily visible. Each time one is spotted it needs to be logged on a designated link to Shepreth.
So if you would like to adopt a hedgehog, please email admin@glatton-hogblog.uk with your name, address and a contact number.
We will also need to encourage people to keep their eyes peeled and log any sightings.
